Splatoon Raiders Tanks Tier List
Which ink tank to main at each stage—from first dens to Ultra loadouts.
Your tank is the biggest build fork in Splatoon Raiders. It locks the five-gadget pool, shapes how you spend cooldowns, and decides whether your weapon feels brilliant or awkward. This tier list ranks Power, Speed, and Tactical for the Switch 2 release (July 23, 2026) across beginner hours, farm blocks, boss rooms, and co-op.

Overall ladder
| Rank | Tank | One-line verdict |
|---|---|---|
| S | Power | Best default; simplest path to strong clears |
| S | Tactical | Best systems play once placement habits click |
| A | Speed | Highest movement ceiling; steeper hands requirement |
Power and Tactical share the top band for different reasons. Speed sits at A overall only because average players leave value on the table—not because the tank is weak.
Beginner tier list
- Power (S) — Splatchet + Splatellites teach dens without complex prep
- Tactical (A) — Shot Pot helps, but forgetting to place gadgets feels terrible
- Speed (B) — Blast Boot is fun; Flywire mastery comes later
If you read nothing else: start Power. The wiki beginner tip exists because it works.
Farming tier list (weapons & materials)
- Tactical (S) — Shot Pot crate pressure and Bombloon door control raise loot per hour
- Speed (S) — fastest stage traversal once Jump Bomb / Flywire are online
- Power (A) — still clears fine; slightly less “route tech” than the other two
Remember loot odds ignore difficulty. Pick the tank that keeps you opening crates, not the skull icon. Routes: How to Get Weapons, Raid Checklist.
Boss tier list
- Power (S) — armor breaks, Spinwheel chase, Shellacker / Mitt burst
- Tactical (A) — traps create safe boss windows for greedy weapons
- Speed (A) — excellent if you never eat telegraphed swipes; unforgiving otherwise
Weapon pairings for bosses favor Splatanas and Blasters—see Best Weapons.
Co-op tier list
- Tactical (S) — one planter stabilizes four-player chaos
- Power (S) — someone still needs to break armor and delete elites
- Speed (A) — scout and revive routes; diminishing returns if everyone zips
Local wireless and online support up to four Raiders. Call tanks before launch so you do not stack four Speeds and zero Shot Pots.
Ranked by weapon preference
| If you main… | Tank rank order |
|---|---|
| Splatana / Dualies / Blaster | Power > Tactical > Speed |
| Splatling / Charger / Stringer | Speed > Power > Tactical |
| Shooter / Brella / Slosher | Tactical > Power > Speed |
| Roller / Brush | Speed ≥ Power > Tactical |

Progression timing (when to switch)
- Hours 0–X story: Power until Weapon Upgrading and basic scrapping exist
- After third Power slot: either deepen Ultra Power or sample Tactical for farms
- After Flywire unlock: give Speed a serious week before judging it
- After Primo weapon lands: retier tanks around that weapon’s needs, not vibes
Unlock rules reminder: gadgets match tank; two slots start; third slot unlocks with tank rank. Details on Gadgets.
Ultra endgame snapshots
Ultra Power — S for burst
Splatellites + Splatchet + Shellacker (or Spinwheel). Tank Surge style damage bonuses make short windows lethal. Ideal when your Primo is a Splatana or Blaster.
Ultra Tactical — S for control
Shot Pot + Bombloons + Hi-Fiver / Torqscrew / Tether. Ideal when dens punish face-tanking and you want the room to fight for you.
Ultra Speed — S in skilled hands
Flywire + Blast Boot + Jump Bomb. Ideal for charge kits and material route tech. Demotes itself if you refuse to paint anchors.
Myths this list rejects
- “Speed is required for good loot” — false; loot tables ignore that claim
- “Tactical is only support” — false in solo; Shot Pot carries hard
- “Power falls off” — false; burst never stops paying rent
- “You must Ultra all three equally” — false; one Ultra tank beats three half-ranked shells

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the best tank in Splatoon Raiders?
Power is the best default tank. Tactical matches it for system-based clears, and Speed catches up when you master Flywire and explosive movement.
Which tank is best for beginners?
Power tank with Splatchet and Splatellites. It is the strongest low-complexity starter loadout.
Which tank is best for farming?
Tactical for crate-assisted clears and Speed for raw traversal once mobility gadgets are unlocked. Power remains perfectly viable.
Should I upgrade all three tanks?
Focus on Ultra-ranking one tank first so you unlock the third gadget slot and stronger tank bonuses before spreading Power Eggs thin.
Do tanks change weapon drop rates?
No. Tanks change clear speed and survivability only. Difficulty modes also leave loot tables unchanged.
