Splatoon Raiders Controls Hub
Ink, swim, gadgets, and Bot Buddy moves mapped for Switch 2 raids.
Splatoon Raiders keeps the series’ ink-and-swim DNA, then layers dungeon-raid tools on top. You still shoot ink, dive into your color to refill and heal, and weave through Salmonid packs—but now a visible health bar, tank gadgets on L/R, and a Bot Buddy hop/launch loop decide whether a Spirhalite Island run ends in loot or a scramble back to the Hideout Ship.
This hub is the control home for Nintendo Switch 2 players who want clean inputs before chasing story dungeons or farming materials. Use it as a map: start here for the full scheme, then open the deep dives on motion controls and best settings when you are ready to tune aim.
Core loop: shoot, swim, survive
Your main weapon fires ink from a refillable tank. Holding fire paints ground and damages Salmonids; releasing and swimming through your own ink restores ink supply and—unlike classic Turf War focus—helps stabilize the health bar that now sits on screen. That health visibility is new for the series in this spin-off, so treat ink puddles as both ammo stations and emergency clinics.
Swim form still matters for speed and repositioning. In crowded rooms inside dungeons, the players who survive Spicy tiers are usually the ones who paint escape lanes before a Boss Salmonid winds up. If you only shoot and never swim, ink starvation and chip damage stack until a Seasoned pack finishes the wipe.
Gadgets on L and R
Once tanks unlock, gadgets sit on L and R and define your secondary kit. Speed Tank tools favor dash leaps and reposition bombs; Power Tank tools carve shields and clear lanes; Tactical Tank tools drop turrets, link bombs, or laser tethers. Pair them with a weapon from the Weapons hub and a loadout plan from Builds so your fingers always know which bumper solves the next problem.
Gadget cooldowns punish panic mashing. Start a fight by placing control tools early, then fire again as soon as the cooldown returns. Solo raiders especially need that rhythm because your Bot Buddy cannot cover every angle alone.
Bot Buddy hop and launch
Deep Cut joins you in an Exploration Bot. Beyond auto-fire and drilling, you can hop onto the bot and launch to high platforms or float above a swarm for timed ink sprays. Use hops for vertical shortcuts on the island map, and use launches mid-fight when Lesser Salmonids pin you against a wall.
Showstopper specials charge from raid progress and Mega Power Eggs. Save them for Boss Salmonid phases or crystal-defense timers instead of dumping them on the first pack you see. Bond growth with Shiver, Frye, or Big Man makes those specials more reliable later—another reason short farming loops on Lehlo and Erpp still matter after the story moves on.
Motion aiming is optional—but worth testing
Motion aiming is available and optional. Many players keep a light gyro layer for fine vertical tracking while the right stick handles large turns; others prefer pure stick aim for docked couch sessions. Reset your view with Y when the camera drifts. Full tuning lives on the motion controls page, with recommended ranges on best settings.
Practice path before harder raids
- Clear Pantree Beach on Lehlo Island to lock shoot/swim muscle memory.
- On Erpp Island, use Piel Coast and Blansh Seaway to practice gadget timing while drilling crystals.
- Enter Scayl Buried Ruins only after you can hop the Bot Buddy without fumbling bumpers.
- Run the raid checklist before Spicy or Survivalist attempts.
When controls feel automatic, progression gets faster: you spend less time fighting the pad and more time choosing the right items and dungeon type for your next goal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does Splatoon Raiders use the classic ink shooter controls?
Yes. You still shoot ink, enter swim form in your color, and refill from painted ground. Raiders adds a visible health bar, tank gadgets on L/R, and Bot Buddy hop/launch moves on top of that foundation.
Are motion controls required?
No. Motion aiming is optional. You can play with stick aim only, or mix light gyro with stick turns. Adjust sensitivity per handheld or TV/tabletop profile in Options.
Where should I practice new button habits?
Start on Pantree Beach, then use early Erpp Island story dungeons. When you change tanks or gadgets, test them on the Hideout Ship range before a Spicy run.
How do gadgets relate to builds?
Gadgets are tank-locked and sit on L/R. Pick a tank archetype, equip a matching pair, then align weapon choice in the Builds and Weapons hubs so your muscle memory matches your upgrade path.
