Splatoon Raiders Power Tank Builds
Armor-breaking melee pressure with orbiting Splatellites and burst gadgets.
The Power tank is the recommended on-ramp for Splatoon Raiders. It turns messy dens into short, readable brawls: break armor, slash the pack, let orbiting discs finish stragglers. On Nintendo Switch 2 (launch July 23, 2026), that fantasy stays relevant from first Hideout upgrades through Primo farming because burst windows never go out of style.

Power gadget roster
| Gadget | Role | Unlock note |
|---|---|---|
| Splatchet | Wide rushing slash; breaks tough defenses | Available early |
| Splatellites | Eight orbiting discs; ink + contact damage | Available early |
| Spinwheel | Forward knockback; hold to chase bosses | Develop at Shiver |
| Meteor Mitt | Slam gauntlet; bigger drops, bigger blasts | Develop at Shiver |
| Shellacker | Charged exploding ink blast | Develop at Shiver |
You begin with two slots. The iconic beginner pair is Splatchet + Splatellites. Unlock the third slot by ranking the tank, then add Spinwheel, Meteor Mitt, or Shellacker based on whether you want chase, slam, or charged poke.
Beginner build (story dens)
- Tank: Power
- Gadgets: Splatchet, Splatellites
- Weapon: first strong Blaster or easy Shooter (see Best Weapons)
- Hideout focus: Weapon Upgrading → dump Spirhalite Shards into that one main (regular cap level 5)
How to play it: paint a foothold, toss Splatchet through the densest cluster, keep Splatellites alive around your body while you shoot. Do not treat Splatchet as a panic button only—use it on cooldown to keep armor broken. Splatellites are your “I am allowed to reload” aura; stand near the fight, not across the map.
Mid-game Power builds
Spinwheel bruiser
Add Spinwheel as slot three (or replace a tool once you understand boss chases). Hold to lock and bowl into Boss Salmonids after Splatchet opens them. Pair with Dualies / Twincans or a Roller so you already enjoy close range. Weakness: over-chasing into projectile cones—reset with ink and let Splatellites cover the retreat.
Meteor Mitt slam kit
Meteor Mitt rewards aerial or elevated slams with fatter explosions. It is a Power gadget (not Tactical), so keep it on this tank. Great when dens have verticality. Combine with weapons that can shoot during mitt recovery—Blasters and Sloshers excel.
Shellacker burst kit
Shellacker is the committed charge button. Parts that speed charge or raise explosion damage matter once gadget parts expand. Use Shellacker when Shot Pot-style autopilot is not available—you are the artillery. Chargers and Stringers can share the “charge mindset,” but Blasters also sync because both respect timing windows.
Endgame Ultra Power directions
When the tank is fully ranked and three slots are online, popular stacks include:
- Splatellites + Splatchet + Shellacker — passive defense, armor break, big button
- Splatellites + Splatchet + Spinwheel — sticky boss chase
- Splatellites + Splatchet + Meteor Mitt — slam-centric vertical dens
If progression later lets a foreign gadget occupy a flex slot, players sometimes borrow Shot Pot or Blast Boot—but learn pure Power first so you understand cooldowns without borrowed safety.
Weapon destinations for Ultra Power: Primo Plastic Splatana or Primo Steam Blaster style keepers. Farm them with How to Get Weapons habits; remember difficulty does not change loot. Ranked weapon context: Weapons Tier List.
Relics, bots, and Surge thinking
As Hideout systems open, bias relics and tank stats toward gadget damage, weapon damage, and survivability that protect melee commits. Bot buddies that create boss openings pair naturally with Splatchet timing. Power’s identity is short violent turns—build stats that make those turns decisive instead of watery.
Weapon pairing cheat sheet
| Weapon class | Power fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Splatana | Excellent | Charged slashes after armor break |
| Blaster | Excellent | AoE while discs tank contact |
| Dualies / Twincans | Strong | Roll → Splatchet → roll |
| Shooter | Solid | Safest learning main |
| Charger | Awkward | Needs patience Power does not always grant |
| Brella | Situational | Shield helps, DPS lower |

Common Power mistakes
- Ignoring Splatellites uptime and fighting outside their orbit
- Saving Splatchet for emergencies only
- Charging Shellacker in the open without ink escape painted
- Spreading Frye upgrades across every shiny drop
- Swapping to Speed mid-farm before you finished Power’s third slot unlock
Practice plan
Run three dens focusing only on Splatchet cooldown discipline, three dens focusing on “never leave Splatellites range,” then one boss-heavy stage practicing Spinwheel chase exits. Tick crate and scrap goals on the Raid Checklist. Broader tips sit in Guides. When you want control tools instead of punches, graduate to Tactical Tank Builds; when you want pure mobility, take Speed Tank Builds. Hub return: Builds.
